RELIEF

RECOVERY

REPRESENTATION

The Arts & Culture Economy contributed over $919 billion to the United States economy in 2019, with growth trending upwards. The creative economy adds more to our GDP than Construction and Tourism, more than Agriculture and Mining combined, $265B more than Transportation, and 3X more to our GDP than Education. These industries are regularly made legislative priorities, and our sector should be, too.

We are big business because we are a local business. Our 675,000 small businesses anchor highly interdependent local commercial ecosystems that create and sustain retail, restaurants, hospitality, tourism, and transportation. If we collapse, America faces economic catastrophe in every state, city, and town.

More than $150 billion of Creative Economy sales and goods were estimated to be lost between April and July of 2020.

Over 5.2 million Arts & Culture workers drive billions of dollars in household income and tax revenue across the United States.

Over 2.7 million Arts Workers have lost their jobs during the pandemic, with particularly heavy losses in the fine and performing arts industries, with estimated losses of almost 1.4 million jobs and $42.5 billion in sales. These estimated losses represent 50% of all jobs in those industries and more than a quarter of all lost sales nationwide
